Policies and Guidance
This page provides an overview of Resource Sharing Plans, a required document in most NIH funding applications. Most applicants for NIH funding must provide a Resource Sharing Plan (RSP) documenting plans for sharing resources that result from their federally funded work. NIH Policies that govern the sharing of resources include the NIH Model Organism Sharing Policy and the NIH Research Tools Policy.
News Release
Genomic variants that increase risk of kidney disease are found in nearly one-third of West Africans
A study from researchers at National Institutes of Health (NIH) and their collaborators revealed a significant genetic risk factor for kidney disease in people of West African ancestry.
The Genomics Landscape
In the October 2024 issue of The Genomics Landscape, NHGRI Director Eric Green welcomes James Thomas as the new director for NIH Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC).
News Release
Funding to advance understanding of RNA biology and development of RNA-based technologies
The Genomics Landscape
In the July 2024 issue of The Genomics Landscape, NHGRI Director Eric Green welcomes the inaugural class of the ASHG-NHGRI Genomics and Public Service Fellowship Program.
News Release
A team of NIH-funded researchers have generated the first complete chromosome sequences from non-human primates.
Policy Issues
Informed consent shows respect for personal autonomy and is an important ethical requirement in research.
Event
Kira Dineen will provide insight on being a host and a guest in science interviews. She will talk about building her main show (DNA Today) and how her career has expanded into 10 shows with various roles.
Data Sharing
The NHGRI Data Sharing Governance Committee is responsible for the activities necessary for the Institute to implement and maintain NIH and NHGRI data sharing policies.
News Release
NIH researchers discover that while artificial intelligence (AI) tools can make accurate diagnoses from textbook-like descriptions of genetic diseases, the tools are significantly less accurate when analyzing summaries written by patients about their own health.
