The Your Genome & You infographic introduces the basics of genetics and genomics, and how the science impacts our lives.
Infographic
An infographic that explains why it was so difficult to fully complete the human genome sequence.
Infographic
Among the 24 chromosomes that make up the human genome, the Y chromosome is unique for its highly repetitive structure. Scientists are studying the Y and its unusual features to better understand human health and disease.
Infographic
The X chromosome is part of sexual development and many other biological processes, including how some cats get their distinctive coat colors.
Research Funding
The GREGoR (formerly the Mendelian Genomics Research Consortium) is aimed at significantly increasing the proportion of Mendelian disorders with an identified genetic cause through enhanced data sharing, collaboration and an increased focus on the application of new technologies, sequencing strategies and analytical approaches.
News Release
NIH is awarding $5.4 million in first-year funding to establish a new program that supports the integration of genomics into learning health systems. As genomic testing becomes increasingly common, more and more genomic data are available in clinical settings, and learning health systems present an opportunity to translate this evidence quickly and directly into improvements in medical care.
Event
NHGRI is hosting a workshop - Identifying Research Priorities to Accelerate genetic Diagnosis - on April 16-17, 2024.
Research Funding
The Genomics-enabled Learning Health System (gLHS) Network aims to identify and advance approaches for integrating genomic information into existing learning health systems.
