Dr. Nephi Walton is a clinical geneticist and medical informaticist. He served as a program director for the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) AnVIL Clinical Resource from 2024-2025.
With over 20 years of experience in medical genetics, biomedical informatics, machine learning, and precision medicine, Dr. Walton has made significant contributions to the field. Before joining NHGRI, he led research efforts in two large population sequencing programs at Geisinger and Intermountain Health. Most recently, he served as the Associate Medical Director of Intermountain Precision Genomics at Intermountain Health. Dr. Walton has successfully integrated genomic information into electronic medical records with the two most prominent EHR vendors. His expertise also extends to the industry, where he has founded and led two commercial startups. He continues to care for patients with complex rare disorders in his clinical practice.
