Biography

Sharna Tingle is the Genomic Program Administrator for the National Human Genome Research Institute’s (NHGRI) Division of Extramural Operations. Her role includes assisting extramural and intramural investigators in depositing genomic data into public repositories such as dbGaP and AnVIL. Prior to coming to NHGRI, Sharna was a Health Specialist in the National Institute on Aging’s Division of Neuroscience in the Population and Genetics Branch supporting the genetics portfolio and data management and sharing policy implementation. Sharna has also worked as a Program Coordinator in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis for the Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), and a Program Analyst and Cancer Research Training Award Fellow in NCI’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences to support implementation of the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy. Sharna received a master’s degree in public health genetics from the University of Pittsburgh where she researched, as a National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Minority Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow, the genetic variation in the 1q31 region and association with systemic lupus erythematosus. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Chatham University.
